Timaru Herald Office, Saturday evening. AUCTIONEERS' EEPOET. Messra Maclean and Stewart roport for tho past week aa follows : — Horses. — The supply of pood draught horses is at present not equal to the demand, ned any of the right stamp meet with ready buyers if young and sound. As the spring advancea they recommend owners having these for sale to forward into town yards as early as possible, and they can rely on obtaining satisfactory pricea. A couple of good geldings brought today .650, another good mare -£23, and thcao quotations are the present market rates for good draughts. Hacks— A good hack is now rare to be seen m tho yarda, and when they do pnt m an appearanco they always bring high pricea ; one to-day bronght Xlti and another X\i. Sheep. — The weather daring the last few weeks has been very unfavorable for spring feed, and m consequence speculation m store sheep has been almost nil and very few transactions havo taken place. Lambing, they aro glad to say, is getting well on, and up to tho present a big percentage may be looked for, although m various quarters a number of deaths havo occurred owing to the ewes not having sufficient feed. They regret to say tho lung worm disease has again made its appearance, and if precautions aro not taken m time a good many may be carried off through it. Fat Sheep — There has been a considerable drop m the market dnring tho last ten days, and 2id to 2id may bo qnoted as ruling prices. Cattle. — Well forward 2 to 3 year old steeja are saleable at fair prices from £3 to Jslt, bet old cows and young cattle are neglected. Fat cattle are getting rather scarce and prices are somewhat better, good beef being at present worth about 25s per lOOlbs. Hides— They Bold at 601bs and over, 4d to 4Jd per lb ; 501bs, at 3Jd per lb, and 40 to 501ba at from 3d to 3id per lb. Tallow— At ti& per lb.
