The Committee adjourned at 5 p.m. till 7 30 p.m. The Council resumed at 7.30 p.m., m Committee, when progress was reported on : tho Land Bill. rIR3T BEADING. The Local Bodies Finance Powers Bill was read a first time. CONFERENCE OF nOUSBS. A message was received from the House of Representatives, requesting a third con- ■ ference on tho Mines Bill, and this was > ordered to be taken into consideration next day. f MISCELLANEOUS. Sir Frederick Whitaker moved tho second | reading of the Auckland Harbor Board Bill —Agreed to. v The second reading of the Agricultural and ' Pastoral Societies Bill was moved by Mr McLean and agreed to. In rcard to tho report of the House Committee relative to the heating and lighting of i Parliamentary buildings, Mr Reynolds re- : ferred to the"ill-lighted streets of tho city of Wellington, and he said the City Corporation i did not seem to appreciate Parliament sitting I m Wellington. ■ The report was then agreed to, and the [ Council rose at 9.15 p.m.
