The brigantine Zephyr finished loading at the wharf on Saturday, and cleared for Hokitika with a full load of produce. She will sail with tho first favorable wind. The Union Company's s.s. Beautiful Star, Captain White, will make a special trip to this port from Port Chalmers this morning, when she will bring np tho. Timara portion of the Doric's cargo. The Union Company's s.s. Grafton, Captain Hill, arrived from Dunedin m place of the s.s. Wanaka, on Saturday morning, and was berthed at tho wharf. She bronght about 80 tons of general merchandise. After discharging and taking m a large quantity of produco, she sailed for Northern ports m the evening. The Union Steamship Company have made another change m their steam service m connection with this port. The s.s. Wanaka, which has for aonio time been rim a ing alternately with the s.s. Taiaroa m the weekly service between Dnnedin and Nelson via way ports, will now act as a relieving boat, while the s.s. Taiaroa will only run between Dnnedin and Lyttelton, leaving Dunedin on Friday, Timaru on Saturday, calling m at Akaroa on Sunday, and then going on to Lyttelton, which port she leaves, on the return trip, on Monday. The West Coast service via Nelson, and tho East Coast service will be continued by the boats at present running m them. Captain Johnson, so long and favorably known m connection with the s.s. Mawhera, and recently master of the Wanaka, has been appointed to the charge of the s.s. Suva, trading between Wellington and Anoklaud via the East Coast. Captain Johnson has inado many friends while engaged m the trade between Dnnedin and Nelson, and his departure ■will be greatly regretted. Ho has bnt recently joined the Union Company's service, having previously been with Captain Wi'.liains, but he is an officer who is snro to earn advancement, and his friends will always be glad to hear of his promotion.
