(By Telegraph.) •ArcKLAiTD, Sept. 7. In regard to the Franklyn Koad fire, S. Anderson's premises were insured for £300 m the Boyal. The City Xorth Licensing Committee have notified hotelieepers that unless they conform to the bar restrictions imposed at last licensing meeting, they will cancel the licenses of the offenders at the next quarterly meeting. Applications for extra bars were refused. An influential meeting was held to-day, to secure the representation of Auckland at the Colonial Exhibition m London. Sub-Com-mittees were appointed to work up interest m the matter, and to carry out details. Wellington", Sept. 7. At the Resident Magistrate's Court to-day, Harry Len&han waa charged with a breach of the Printers and Newspapers Registration Act, by distributing a pamphlet entitled "Such Things Exist," written by Drs Cotterell and Gilbert, of Sydney, without an imprint. The accused was m the habit of giving the book, which is a disgusting publication, to boys to distribute m the streets. The police have seized 1000 copies of it. The prisoner was fined £5, or seven days' imprisonment. Chbistchitbch, Sept. 7. A cottage, belonging to a laborer named Carl Lange, at Styx, was burned down on Saturday night. It was insured m the Guardian Office for £50. Henry Dipham, a farmer, resident near Papanui. died suddenly yesterday. OAMABr, Sept. 7. The body of a newly-born female child was found this morning m a watercloset. The mother, Alary Moran, has been sent to the Hospital. An inquest will bo held. Dunkdin, Sept. 7. A four-roomed house at St. Leonard's, insured m the National office for £200 was bornl on Saturday. It wa3 caused, it is supposed, by some embers left m the fireplace, the house having been vacated the previous day. A heavy fall or snow is reported to have taken place at Crifell, the new goldfield, which will delay the start irig of mining operations.
