ST. ANDREWS.

(t'KOM A CORRESPONDENT.) I send a few items of local interest, more especially as your paper lias a Tory wide circulation m this portion o£ the district. There is every likelihood of n Dairy Factory being established here before long, which will doubtless prove of great, value to the small farmer, and ought therefore to bo vigorously worked into shape by those who have been chosen to canvass the district. The tiling merely wants pushing, and it will bo an accomplished fact. In connection with the proposed factory it is understood that the N.Z. and A. Land Company are prepared (o offer special indueeniens to email dairy farmers to locate themselves on a portion of the Company's land m close proximity to the factory. Such an opportunity should be jumped at by those who desire to make an advantageous start for themselves, as it is thought tho Company's offer will doubtless prove highly beneficial to those who may bo farseeing enough to avail themselves of it. Several changes havo recently taken place m tho township. Messrs H. and A. Bruco have bought out tho old established general etoro of Mr J. W. Hurt, and hate made extensive alterations and improvements m the premises and general stock of merchandise. Sir H. Forrest has lately ro-oponed tha storo which had been standing idle for somo timo past, and now pxliibita a well selected stock of goods. Tho Masonic Hotel has also chnnged its landlord, Mr W. F. Brown having leased tho premises to Mr Wederoll, who is. now m possession, and there is evory reason to believe that the high and reputable character attaching to this hostelry will be maintained under tho present landlord. Inspector Worsley, of the Railway Deportment, is at tho present timo substantially fencing off tho railway line, and it is intended planting the enclosure along it, which will have a very ornamental effoct m tho future Tho public cometcry has been securely foucod, and al*o properly laid off by Mr Hillary, and the thanks of tho community aro justly duo to tho Board of Trustees, and especially to their Chairman, Mr Teschemaker, for the grcut interest taken by them m tho mutter. It is, however, to bo lioped that tho Trustees will 800 the necessity for n roadway to the cemetery from tho St. Andrew's ond, across tho section on winch tho old Ferry Hotel stood, with a small bridge over tho railway cutting, which would also bo a step m tho right direction. Tho township is quietly but steadily showing signs of development m the erection of new buildings ; and with the return of good and prosperous times, greater strides may be anticipated (or this locality.
