MACKENZIE COUNTY COUNCIL.

Tlio monthly meeting of this Council was held at Burkes Posb, ou Monday, August 3rd. MEMBERS PBEBENT. Messrs J. McGregor (Chairman), Cowan, Gray, Struthera, and Milno. oveesbeb's ebpobt. Tho Clerk and Oversoor reported on Mr F. McDowell's applicntion to lost meeting, for water to bo turned off land rented by him from Captain Hnyter, and it was resolved " that tho matter bo left m tlio hands of the Clerk." Ho also reported that during the month Mossrs J. and \V. Riddlo'i tender of £33 13b, had been accepted for additions to tho surfacemen's hut, and tbat certain metalling was necessary to bo done on the main road between Fairlio Crook and tho Opihi crossing. — It was resolved that- tho latter work be dono. TRNDBHS. Tenders wcro opened as follows : — For Silverstream culvert repairs, Contract No. 72— Coulson, £12 (accepted); J. L. Rowc, £13 10s ; J. and W. Riddle, £14 10s. For horse-feed supply for 12 months, Contract No. 73 (commencing on tho 12th August, 1885) — J. E. Goodwin (accepted), oats, per bushel, Is 6d ; chaff, per ton, 40s ; bran, per Back, 4s 6d. Messrs Morris and Gall, oats, per bushel, Is 9d ; chaff, per ton, 45b, or 9d per bug ; bran, per sack of lOOlbs, ss. COBBEBFONDBNCB. Correspondence was read and dealt with aa follows : — From the Railway Engineer's ofileo, Christchurch, cnclosiug by-law re traffio on privato roads' crossings. From tho Colonial Secretary's ofliec, Welliugton, etuting that the Council's petition re

boundary of Geraldino and Mackenzie Countiea had been mislaid, and a telegram from the same stating that the roissine paner 1 had been found. r From Mr F. W. Marchant, late Clerk, about Holman'B certificate. From the Treasury Office, Wellington, requesting tho Council's balance sheet to be forwarded. From Messrs Meason and Marohant, offering to do business for the Council. From Messrs Morris and Gall, requesting repairs to Main Road m Fairlie Creek township. — Tho Clerk was instructed to have the necessary repairs effected. From Mr Thomas Askin, requesting work to be done on the road leading from Mount Missing Road to Rocky Gully. —The Clork was instructed to report on the application to next meeting. From Mr Wm. Close, applying for extra allowance for expenses re dog tax collection. — Resolved to allow £4. MISCELLANEOUS. The Clerk was instructed to hare necessary repairs and certain improvements made m Burko's Pass Cemetery. It was resolved that the attention of the Inspector of Police, Timaru, be drawn to the necessity for the removal of the lock-up at Albury to Fairlie Creek. The Clerk was instructed to draw out tho now forms for "Form of tender" and " General conditions for contracts," submit tho same to Mr Gray for approval, and hava them printed. ACCOUNTS. Accouuts amounting to £233 9s 2d wero passed for payment, and tho meeting adjourned.
