The ship Rangitiki took on board tho first of her Home cargo on Saturday. The barques Cingalese and Examiner will bo brought to the -wharf this niorniug. The barque Messina put ont some of her ballast on Saturday, and took m the first of her Cape cargo. The ship Allegiance put out the first of her Cargo for this port on Saturday. She is being worked by tho Landing Service. The Government Landing Servico were tendering the barqnentinc Annie Bow, at the buoys, on Saturday. She is expected to finish discharging m a couple of days. Tho barque John Knox was discharging at tho wharf on Saturday. She has abont forty piles, besides a quantity of square timber, yet to put out. The s.s. Wareatea finished putting out her coals at the inner wharf on Saturday afternoon, and sailed late m the evening with abont SO tons of prodnce, for Westport, shipped by the Royal Flonring Mills, and Messrs E. Allen and Co. Despite the south-easterly gale and tho heavy weather prevailing yesterday, tho vessels under shelter of the breakwater were lying at their moorings with ease. Several of the captains m port have expressed to us their entire satisfaction at the excellent shelter afforded by the breakwater, and speak m high praise of the facilities provided by the Harbor Board for the safe mooring of their voasels. The Union Company's regular trader s.s. Wanaka arrived from Dnnedin on Saturday morning with a large cargo of general merchandise, and was berthed at the outer wharf. The Wanaka is now m charge of Captain Johnston*, late of the Mawhera. Captain Rnssell, who formerly had charge of her, has taken the Mawhera to Melbonrne, to run her m the Melbonrne and Fiji trade, under the Union Company's flag. _ The Wanaka sailed late m tho evening for Nelson and way ports, with abont 70 tons of prodnce, shipped by the Royal Flouring Mills, R. ARRIVED. August - — Beautiful Star, s.s., from Oamaru. August 2— Tainui, *.=.. Captain Barlow, from Plymouth, via Capetown and Hobart. The Taiuni's passage was tl days 30 minutes. She brings 3000 tons of cargo, and 231 passengers. Ciptain Barlow and Dr Keny have been presented with testimonials. Rimutaka left here at i p.m. for London, via Rio dc Janeiro and Madeira. She takes a full cargo, inclnding about lU,OOO carcases mutton.

Wellington, August 2. The baninentine May, which left here for Greymonth on Friday, returned to port yesterday, owing to bad weather. The captain reports that when rounding Point Halswell, abont 6.30 on Friday evening, the steamer Waihora. Captain McGee. which left here on Friday evening for Auckland, via the East Coa3t port?, collided with the May, carrying away that vessel's bowsprit and all the head gear. The Waihora stood by her until it was ascertained that assistance was not required, [ and she then proceeded on her trip to Xawer. Captain iorbe3 does not care to give" tho exact particulars of the collision nntil such time as an enquiry i 3 held, which will bo on the Monday after next, when the Waihora rotnrns. At the time of the collision it was very dark, bnt not thick. There was no one hurt on either vessel , and the Waihora did not receive any injury.
