measure providing for the payment of members on the Canadian system, which provides for payment of so much per day with a deduction m case of absence. Hobakt, July 30. The Colonial Treasurer, tho Hon. W. H. Burgess, introduced his Financial Statement last night. He stated m the course of his speech that £30,000 had been expended by the colony during the past year for defence purposes. It is proposed to float a new loan of £1,000,000.
