HUNTING.

On Wednesday morning last the South Canterbury Harriers met by invitation on the Raukapuk'a Estate at Geraldine, through the kindness of Mr K. 11. Postlelhwaite. Tlie weather wus idl Umt could be desired. The field was 11 large one, over 70 following;, iucludiiifr inniiy visitors from Timuru. Bo\eml ladies wore ])resei)t, and followed the hounds in line style. At 11 oVlork a start was made from the "station" to the trv.-4ing ground, a paddock nt, Stover. On reaching there a draw was made, mid \erj soon puss was driven from (•over. After a* short spin a cheek took place, and as hares got up in all directions the hounds were whipped off. Another cast wus made with good results. A good burst of about 15 minutes followed, when puss was run to earth. After this there followed several good runs, and once again puss hud to Biiccumb. Hares being rather numerous interfered much with the day's sport. The worthy master, Mr John Rutherford, is to be congratulated on his splendid puck. There were 14 couples, very even nud clem, anil appearing in grand fettle. They go at a rattling pace, and wero mueh admired for their steady work. The party were very hospitably entertained at a splelTdid lunolieou by Mr and Mrs Poetlctlnvaite at the close of the day's sport.
