THE PROPRIETORS of tho TIMARU HERALD havo much pleasure in announcing that thoy havo decided on Reducing the Prico of the Paper on and after tho Ist August noit to One Penny. In making this reduction, it is their fixed determination to fully maintain the standard which has given tho Timaru Herald such a large and extended circulation in all parts of South Canterbury. The Timaru Herald already receives tho samo Telegrams aa appear in the Christchurch and Dunedin Morning Papers. It is the only Journal published in the District which receives the Special Cablo Messages of tho United Press Association, and it is tho only Paper published in Timaru which possesses the services of a regular Parliamentary Correspondent. While continuing to furnish the samo copious supply of General Intelligence, increased attention will be given to Local News, especially in the outlying parts of the District in which tho Timani Herald circulates. They have decided on t.he step, however, believing that tho timo has now arrived when South Canterbury may consider itself fairly entitled to a Penny Morning Newspaper, and also belioving that thoy may Bafely depend on tho residents showing theii appreciation of tho step by largely increasing the Bupport generously given to the Timaru Herald during tho 21 years it has been ir existence. That the Paper will bo largely increased in value to Advertisers of courst goes without saying, and the Proprietor! confidently anticipate a material increase ol support in this direction.
