SOUTH CANTERBURY BOARD OF EDUCATION. ■*VTOTICE is hereby given that the Annual .131 Examination of Pupil Teachers will commence m the Timaru Main School on TUESDAY, June 23rd, at 9 30 a.m. Pupil Teachers iv the service of the Board are required to present themselves for the Examination corresponding to their recognised status m tho Schools, unless they have already passed such Examination. In the latter case they may either enter for the next higher Examination or consider themselves exempt. It must be clearly understood that the mere passing of an Examination confers no title to a corresponding rank m the Schools. Promotions, except m special cases, will be ina3e at the expiry of a year's service m the lower rank, if m the meantime the proper Examination has been passed and the required age attained. Candidates for employment of fourteen years of age and upwards will be admitted to Examination with Pupil Teachers of any year, provided that they pass the Examinations m regular succession, beginning with the first, and that an application to be Examined be forwarded to the Secretary not later than June 16th. Such persons wili not be entitled to immediate classification as Pupil Teachers of any rank, but m the case of future appointments, the Board will take into consideration their age and attainments m granting nn initial status Those who fail to satisfy the Examiner will be distinguished by numbers. The legitimate Expenses of Pupil Teachers (but not of Candidates for Employment) will be refunded. Time-tables may be procured at this office. W. J. ANDERSON, Inspector.
