AUCTIONEERS' REPORT.

Messrs Jonas and Bourn report as fol lows :— As compared with the corresponding niontt of last year a brisk business is doing m th< live stock market, there being a considerablf demand both for fat and store stock. At theii last sale at the Washdyke Free Saleyards there was a strops muster of buyers, nearlj every line on their books finding purchasers at enrrent rates. They sold 807 half-bred ewes at 93 Gd, 100 at 113 6d, and 64 at lls lOd ; 12C merino ewes at 3s Gd, 75 at 4s, 135 at 5s 9d : and 130 at 6a 8d ; 48 half-bred lambs at 6s and 64 fat wethers at lls lid. Milch cows were quitted readily at up to £6, springors to £4 ; fat cows £o 7s Gd and £o 10a, and fat steers £6 los to £7 ; 17 steers and heifers m lota sold at up to £3. Mr J. T. Bourn's clearing: sale at Makikihi was well attended and capital prices obtained for the whole of tho stock and implements sold, 208 crossbred ewes realising 10s 3d, 18-1 half-bred 0s 6d, and 101 lambs 8s 6d. The draught horses sold at up to .£l7 10a for the best', hacks =210 and .£ls each, bacon pigs up to £?». Their iisual sale of sheepskins on Wednesday brought together a fnll attendance of buyers. A choice lot of skins were catalogued and top prices obtained, crosabrods selling as high as 3s 3d and merinos Is 2d. For any description of horses but little demand at present exists, and tho sales they have made m their yards do not average more than £12 10s for good useful draughts. Light harness horses they have sold at from £6 10s to =£8 ss. Ordinary hacks find no competition, and values are difficult to fix. Their sale of fruit and forest trees yesterday and to-day resulted m a clearance of every lot, judges of trees being very complimentary on the e.xcollent description offered and the evidently careful manner m which they had been grown.
