TO THE EDITOR OF THE TIMARU HERALD. Sib, — A report lias been circulated that the numbers attending this School hare of late greatly fallen off. Whether this report is founded on facts or proceeds from the fertile imagination of some member of the Committee, will be seen from the following table, showing the number on the roll and the number m an average attendance : — Date. Quarter ended March, 1884 ... 940 742.7 June, „ ... 937 729.4 Sept., „ ... 939 711.3 Dec, „ ... 912 736.0 March, 1885 ... 909 706.1 April, „ ... 933 711.2 On April 20th the attendance was, forenoon 768, afternoon 764. On the beys' side 58 boys forming Standard I. have been removed from the Infants' to the Upper School. This accounts for the larger number of boys than girls m the Upper School. I am, &c, Jab. Scott.
