The " TiMAsn Hebald " Map.— Owing to a mishap which occurred m the working of the paper, the map of the Afghan Frontier, ■which vre published yesterday, was a good deal blurred m a portion of the issue. We have, therefore, republiahed it to-day as a Supplement, m which form it will probably be more useful for reference. GiiiLiHS, M.H.B.— We learn from the Dunedin Star that Mr Bobert Gillies, M.H.B. for Bruce (brother of the Bey. W. Gillies, of this town) has, acting under medical advice, been obliged to refrain from taking any part m public affairs for a few weeks. It is hoped that the nature of his illness will not necessitate the resignation of his Beat m the House. Lkctuee. — Mr William Davidson, the local agent of the Australian Mutual Provident Sooiety, will again have the pleasure of delivering one of his interesting lectures m the Timaru Assembly Booms on. the 13th. The subject of Mr Davidson's lecture is " The European Crisis and British Heroes," with a few hints about life assurance. His Worship the Mayor will take the choir. 5.0.A.A.0. — We publish m another column this morning the programme of the fifteenth annual gathering of the South Canterbury Amateur Athletic Club, which is to be held on Wednesday and Thursday next, the 13th and 14th May. We may mention aß a special feature that the Canterbury and Otago champion bicyclists will compete each day. The entries of competitors are expected to be much more numerous thii year than they have ever been before. A strangers' race on the second day has been inserted m the programme, open to members of any recogBieed amateur club.
