SYDNEY MARKETS.

From tho Town and Country Journal dated April 18th wo extract the following : — FLOUR. This market is at present well supplied, and, owing to " war news," holders have been enabled to make sales of flour which otherwise they would have found very difficult to place. Buyers do not appear eager to purchase, as thoy seem to be under the impression that, should war occur, it will m a certain measure stop tho export, which would otherwise tako place, owing to cheaper freight and war riak. We hear of no sales at advanced rates. New South Wales flour, £8 10a to £9 10s -, Adelaide, =£8 53 to .£9 103 ; Victorian, £7 10a to £0 10s ; Taamanian, £7 to .£8 per ton ; bran 10^d, pollard Is per bushel. WHEAT. There is a certain amount of uneasiness apparent m this market, owing to the effect the war scare is haying 1 m Adelaide and Victorian markets. It has rather a curious aspect, to say the least of it, as large holders no doubt would like to quit at a slight advance on late rates, and are apparently waiting for buyers to make offers, which they do not appear to respond to, as we hear of no large sales, and no doubt shippers will have to realiso much higher ratea than at present ruling m Home markets to cover extra freight and war risk, &0., on shipments at prices now ruling m Adelaide and Victoria. Quotations are aa follows : — New Sonth Wales wheat, 3s (!d to 3s 8d; Adelaide 3s 8d ; Victorian, 3s 7d ; Tasmanian, 3s 4d ; New Zealand, 2s (Jd to 3s 3d per busbel. Messrs Mort and Co., Limited, report an advance m the price of wheat at their sale on Thursday. Inferior sold at from 3s Id to 3a sd, and best 3a lOd per bushel.
