The following correspondence was read aud dealt ■with : — From the Secretary to the Treasuiy, enclosing amount of £72 10s, balance of grant for roads on reserve No. 1263. From same, enclosing amount of rates due ou Crown lands. From Mr Bees, Babbit Inspector, calling attention to the gorso growing m the riverbeds, ■which was a harbor for rabbits. From Mr Orbell, requesting that some repairs be done to the rock cutting on -what is known as Cliff's Road ; also that the road leading from B.S. 22135 and 21782 be made passable for drays. The Overseer was directed to attend to the first, and report upon the second application at the next meeting. A petition was also received from Messrs Bowker and others, calling attention to tho unsatisfactory state of College Boad. The Overseer was requested to report on it at the next meeting. otbrseeb's eeport. The Overseer reported as follows : — " Since last meeting Mr Gillies' application for shingle has been attended to. Tho cloßcd road lines have been purchased by tlio parties interested, m accordance with the offer. Tho planking m the Pareora bridge has been repaired, and the following repairs have been done : Capps's, Mitchell's, and Millar's roads, Aitkeii's Ford near Denny bridgo on Zigzag near Clellaud's, culvert on Main South and Otipua road, Church street, old South road and Main road, Butler's, Chisholm's, Brockley, College, Swamp, and Seadown roads, and a culvert has been put m to give access to Devan's land. The wood culvert across the road on Maori Hill broke down and has been replaced by a 12-inch pipe culvert, the whole of the timber being perfectly rotten. The culvert beyond Da wes' has also broken through, and had to be replaced. I have had four pitched fords put mon the German's and Bhodes' Flat road, and tenders will be before you to-day for cutting the ditches. Mr Bibley has delivered 389 yards of metal on the road between Whales Creek and Woollcombe's Gully, leaving 161 yards to complote his contract. I have had 116 yards of spalls taken out of a quarry on Mr Belileld's land and deposited on tho roadside, and they are being broken. The Wai-iti road must be attended to at once as the whole of the metal is worn off on the hill by Langdon's ; we have about 450 yards all ready for carting, and I would suggest to call for tenders for carting the

same at onco. This will only repair a portion of the road ; it will require at least another 500 yards. Tho wholo of tho road from 'the top of the hill at Walker's Bridge to Claremont school requires repairing immediately, as the extreme heavy traffic is cutting through tho metal which has had no repairs since it was put on (about six years ago). I would suggest that 500 yards of metal be quarried and placed on tho road for breaking m such places as may bo required. Mr Pringle has offered the use of his quarry, which is m a central position and of good stone. The stone should be got out bofore winter. Road to Mr J. Campbell's— This application for forming tho road to his land somo three months since was ordered to stand over until after harvest, as was also the bridge over the creek at Briggs' Gully. Tenders have beon called for shingling Balfour's Hill, cutting drain on Rhodes' and German Flat, and carting shingle to Sandietown." TIATF3 The Clerk stated that there were still £1000 of unpaid rates outstanding. Resolved— " That Mr Wright bo instructed to summon all defaulters without further delay."
