The Melbourne Manager of the Rational Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand, Limited, reports of the local markets as follows : — Shipping wheat is rather weaker at 3s 8d to 3s 9d ; malting barley is neglected at 3s 9d to 4b 6d. New Zealand oats, feed 2s 8d to 3s ; milling, 3s to 3s Id ; ditto under bond, 2s 2d to 2s 4d. Bye grass is quiet at 3s Gd to 4s 3d ; cocksfoot rather weaker at 4d to 4-|d. (Received 9.45 p.m. April Bth.) Arrived— Waihora, s.s., from the Bluff , this afternoon. • . Sydney, April 8. The second day's races of the Australian Jockey Club's Autumn Meeting took place to-day. The Flying Handicap, three-quarters of a mile, was won by Ellington, Marie Louise 2, Mascotte 3. Twenty-two horses started. Ellington won by two longths. Timer— lmin 15f sec. Maiden Stakes, one mile and a quarter — Angora 1, Clarendon 2, Favo 3. Won easily. Sydney Cup, two miles — Normanby 1, Velocipede 2, Lord Lake 3. Twenty-three horses started. Betting at post 3 to 1 Reginold, 7 to 1 Sheet Anchor and Normanby, 25 to 1 Velocipede. Lord Lake and Velocipede led the field until the distance was reached, when Normanby came with a rush and won on the post by a head. Time — 2min 35sec. Sires Produce Stakes, 7 furlongs -rTJralla 1, Cardigan 2, Cairo 3; Won easily. Monte Christo, Algerian and Eva also started. Monte Christo was the favorite. Selling Plate, a mile and a quarter— Rainbow 1, Florida 2, Paul 3. Selling Stakes ; five furlongs — Abner 1, Magnifier 2, Discord 3.
