Adelaide wheat, 4961bs ex store, is at 365; New Zealand ditto, 28s to 345. Adelaide flour, 2801bs ex store, 25s Gd. Wool is steady, without active demand. To-day's catalogue comprised 11,300 bales. The Commission on Pacific Affairs has commenced its sitting. The Committee of the Chamber of Deputies have approved of re'cidivistes being chiefly relegated to Cayenne and New Caledonia, and those possessing money or having a trade, elsewhere. [Received noon, March 27th.l In the Chamber of Deputies M. Waldeck Kousßea stated that the worst type of re'cidivistes would be sent to Cayenne. Lieut. W. M. B. Fisher, and Geddings one of the crew of H. M.S. Miranda, have been awarded the Humane Society's medals for gallantry at Sydney. ' . Sir Julius Benedict, the eminent musical composer, is dying. The Admiralty desire to retain the services of Capt. Rhodes, Submarine Mining Engineer, who. recently accepted a military appointment m Victoria, and m his stead are offering half-pay officers. Mr Murray Smith, Agent-General for Victoria,, is protesting against the request being acceded to. The dividend m the old Oriental Bank estate will, be paid on April Bth. The necessity for increasing the strength of the Australian squadron is being discußsed by the Home authorities. The beef ex steamer Cuzco is realising 4d per lb. March 27. It is reported that the Bank of South Australia will rejoin the Associated Banks/.
