It is announced that the various Governments have be^n exchanging views relative to the proposed Federation Knabling Bill, and that replies have been received from all bnt one, and that practical unanimity exists. The' reply will be sent Home through the Colonial Secretary of South Australia, as the Agent-General of that colony occupies senior position. A libel action, McElhone versus Bennett, of the Evening News, was commenced yesterday, for comments m April last on a Parliamentary investigation into McElhone's transactions with Handsaker, for whom it was said the former obtained an appointment m the Civil Service, the emolument being paid McElhone m liquidation of a debt. The case is still proceeding. [We have since learned by cable that a verdict was given for defendants.] Welcome services to Dr Linton, the new Bishop of Riverina, were held m Melbourne and Sydney. The Bishop preached m Sydney Cathedral on Sunday to a large congregation. Perth. News from Loburn stutes that Gilroy, who ■was arrested for the murder of Mr Anketel and Mr Brough, has been discharged. Strong evidence has been produced against the other two men, Beran and Warburton, who are now under arrest. The hat of the latter has been found covered with blood, and he cannot account for his whereabouts on the night of the murders.
