Commercial Intelligence.
Timaru Herald Office, Friday Evening. Harvest operations have been considerably impedod dnring the past week by unfavorable weather, showers having been experienced to <i greater or les3 extent over the whole of the district. 'Tho rain on the uplands, however, has not been so heavy as on or near the coast, and we hear that there is a fair prospect of the bulk of the grain coming into town m good order and condition. Deliveries so far have been light, and quotations are really nominal. Good milling oats may be mentioned at from 2s 6d to 2s 9d, about 2s 8d being the average price. In wheat there is no movement, but good prime samples of malting barley are m request. A few days of fine breezy weather should have a marked effect for the better on the crops, both cut and uncut, and as we write there is a fair prospect of a change for the better. Waimate, March 6. Wheat, 23 8d per bushel ; oats, Is 7d ; barley, 3a 3d ; hay, .£3 10s per ton ; potatoes, £2, ; butter, very plentiful and oheap.
