(By Telegraph.) i Chbistchubch, March 6. At the frozen meat Conference jester* day delegates were present from all the Meat Freezing Companies m the colony. It was unanimously resolved — " That lid per lb and 10 per cent primage was the highest rate of freights the trado could at present afford, and members expressed a hope that no difficulty would be experienced m getting shipping companies to meet these views." Terms of sliipmerit were discussed and several matters of detail fixed upon m this respect, and it was said efforts should be made to have shipping companies interested m delivering cargoes m London m good condition, by having part of the freight payable m London. The following resolution was also carried — " That this Conference is of opinion that m consequence of the present system of selling frozen meat m England, it is absolutely necessary m the interest of sheep-farmers that steps should be taken to arrange for the disposal of the meat m a more satisfactory manner; therefore, m order to place the trade on a more satisfactory footing it is highly desirable that the consignees m London should elect from their number a Committee for the purpose of controlling and regulating all matters m connection with the disposal of meat, and that the Directors of the Canterbury Company and the New Zealand Refrigerating Company of Dunedin be requested to take steps to induce shippers here to give the necessary instructions to their respective consignees, and to draw up a memo setting forth m detail the nature of the action to be taken and the remuneration to be paid to said Committee of consignees. Further, it is suggested that a suitable person should be sent Home to facilitate the organisation of a Committee of consignees, and if necossary to remain there, carrying out the views of the Conference, all expenses to be made a pro rata charge on all meat passing through the hands of the Committee.
