The lad William Fraser, who was injured on the Caversham tramway on Tuesday, died at the hospital this afternoon. Cable advice was received m town to-day from Glasgow, announcing the death of Mr James Galbraith on the 4th. instant. The deceased gentleman was senior partner m the well-known shipping -firm of P. Henderson and Co., of Glasgow, and was afterwards managing director of the Albion Company, and on its amalgamation with Shaw-SaviUe and Co., became one of the Board of Directors. . : The extension of the Mornington wir« cable tramway to Mary Hill is now completed. The line is half a mile long, and over a portion of it the car descends the steepest grade m the world. ; : Further evidence was taken to-day m the charge against Thomas McEenzie, mate of the Janet Ramsay, for the attempted murder of the Captain by throwing him overboard. The evidence showed that the captain called the mate a liar, and the. latter made a rush at the captain, who went overboard. The" accused at once called out, "The skipper's overboard." The charge was dismissed, the evidence not supporting a charge of murder. The Mayor has at the request of a number of the citizens telegraphed to the Premier requesting him and Sir Julius Yogel to address a public meeting m Dunedin at an early date. Inquests were held to-day on bodies of John . Harrigan, of Oamaru, and Samuel Green, of Fernhill, who died suddenly. In both cases verdicts of death from naturalcauses were returned.
