Under that date Messrs Ireland, Fraser and Co. report of the sugar market as follows : — Crop accounts are unfavourable, owing to the shortness of the rainfall, and trade generally is unsatisfactory. The month's clearance of sugar includes 900 tons for Port Chalmers, and 300 tons for Wellington. Freight to Australia is 10a to 15s per ton, to New Zealand 203. Exchange is at CO days ; bank credit is— New Zealand 18 per cent., ditto Australia 10J per cent. Tho stock of sugar on hand is 3700 tons. The exports to New Zealand this season amount to GOOO tons. (Received 1.30 p.m., Feb. 25th.) An unsuccessful attempt was made last nigh^ to rob the Colonial Bank of Australasia at Natiiuuk, a town m the northwest of this colony.
