Heavy rain has set io, over four inches having fallen over a large part of the colony aince Friday night. Blelboubjte, May 26. Arrived, this evening — P. and O. steamship Carthage, with the inward Brindisi mails dated London, April 19th. The ran on the Chartered Bank of Australia to-day was chiefly confined to notes, and the total withdrawals have been slight. It is believed that the rumors regarding the stability of the Bank were circulated with malicious intent.
