FATAL ACCIDENT AT WESTPORT.

(Bt Teibqbaih.) Wbstpobt, Feb. 12. A terrible accident occurred on the Westport Coal Company's incline tbis afternoon. Joseph Brown, & butcher and a member of tbe Connty Council, and William Harrison, a storekeeper, of Waimangaroa and Denniston respectively, were ascending m an empty truck, when the shackling o: tbe descending landed truck broke. Tbe fill truck dashed into the. empty one, killing Brown irutontaneon»ly and seriously injuring Harrison. Ths latter was brought into the Hospital. Brown leaves a wife and large family. , LITKB. The doctor pronouncps Harrison out of danger. Brown's back and neck w.ire broken. He leaves a wife and eight children.
