LOSS OF THREE VESSELS AND SEVEN LIVES.
(Br TBLBQEiPH.) AttoSxand, Jbd. 22. The cutter Daphne, Captain Bnun, has arrived from Bar&tonga, bringing tidings of a mOBt disastrous gale which occurred there, oausing tbo wreolt: of the Auokland sohoonera Agnes Bell, Atlantic and Makea Arioki, with the loss of «even lives, also a fearful amount of damage to property on the' island. The S arsons drowned were Captain W. Mnnn and ohn Anderson, mnto of the Agnes Bell ; Captain Ayerj, John Gates, mate, and Patrick Duncan, (toward of the Makea Arioki. with Stanley Hoolher (brother of A. Heather, merchant, of Auckland) and a native. The three resaels were all owned by Donald aDd Edinborough, of Auobland. Tho masters of the Agnes Bell and Makea Aricki refused to leave their vessnlis, hoping at least to nave their ships. Munn is well known m Dunedin shipping oiroha. The insurances were as follows: — On the Agnes Boll's hull, m the New Zealand, £2800; reinsured m the Mutual for £300, m the South British for £600, m tho Union for £500 ; on her cargo, m the United for ££500. On tho Makea Arioki's hull, m the New Zealand £1600, cargo £600. On the Atlantic's hull, m the Now Zealnnd £800, ro-inaured m the South British for ;£2oOj cargo injured m the Now Zealand for £900, re-insured m the Colonial for £300.
