FATAL FIRE AT KAIPARA.
(By Telegbaph.) AxjoklAsd, Jan.' 30. The Kaipara Hotel nt Helensvjlle, and the extensive stores of MoLeod Bros., were burned, last night. John Harris, the cook, and Mooney, his assistant, wero burnt to death. Only Hums' body liub bee" recovered, but Beversl fragment* which werr picked up are identified as a, porf ion of tbc c;tber man's body.. The Public Hall and oeveral private residences were only saved by the. efforts of a camber of bushmen with axes, «ho h lppened to be on the spot and cnt rv butcher's Bhop up to pieces, which were removed thus preventing the further ipread of tho firo. The totu! damage is entimuted at several thousonds of pounds. The following are Iho in»UTanr"oß m oonneotion with the H->leneville firs:— The Nutional offloe had £1350 on the' Kaipara Hotel, and £500 on the stock, of wl.ioh there whs reinsured £500 m the Boutli British, £850 m the United, £300 m the North British and £200 m the Norwich Union. The Imperial had £350 on (he hotel buildings, of whioh £200 is reinsured. The. same Company had £1200 on thertock, which was reinsured m the Union and the Eojal for £SCO each. ,
