CORRESPONDENCE.

THE LATK ANGLICAN CHURCH ENTERTAINMENT AT PLEASANT POINT. TO THE KDITOB 1 OF THE TIMAHU HBBALD. Sib,— l noticed m your last Saturday's issue a brief report of tbe above entertainment. At, however, muoh has transpired outside that reported, permit me space for a lino to protest against the conduct of at least aome of the managers m refusing or neglecting to invite the only resident dissenting minister m this district to a place on tho platform. Tbere appears to be two or three main reasons why ho should have been iuviled; and first, the entertainment was intended to afford an opportunity to bid 'farewell to the outgoing minister or olergyzhan, and to welcome tbe incoming one. The former clergyman spoke eulogisiically of his connection and acquaintance with tho dissenting minister, and also of the obligations under which he and his congregation had been placed to that ministor and bis uongrogation. It would certainly eeem more becoming to cultivate more of that Christian apirit with the inonraing one than to encourage tbe oppoaite. Besides, there are various denominations represented partly by the Anglican churoh, but more so by the disientiDg ohurob, and a slight oast upon its minister is, I take it, a slight cast upon a oongrog&tion, and thi* coming from the management of a Christian church, is niOßt unobritlian-like and reprolienaible. 1 am, &0., OBBBBVRK. Pleaaant Point, 13th Jan., 1884.
