Hedges) to-day. Tho hundieap9 will appear on Tuesday next. Eoval Hotel, Waimate. — A temporary transfer of tho license of this hotel from Mr Shcrwin, licensee of tho Empire Hotel, to Mr IT. Middlcton was granted by the Chairmnn of tho Waimato Licensing Committee yesterday. A permanent transfer will be applied for at next quarterly licensing meeting. Mr Middleton— who at present holds a license far the Club Hotel— at onco takes over tho charge of tho Royal Hotel. Tho attendance was very good during tho day-timo, and m tho evening the attendance was very large, thu crush m the room at times being almost unbearable. A very good business has so far been done On Tuesday £88 odd was taken, and yesterday £130 odd. The Bazaar will bo open at 1 o'clock this afternoon, and remain open till 10 this evening. Wo understand that m order to dispose of the articles remaining prices have been considerably reduced. Resident Maqisthatb's Court, Tiwaup. —At the Resident Magistrate's Court, Timaru yesterday, J. H. Suiter, Esq., J.P., occupied tho Bench for a few minutes and disposed of the following cases : — A man charged for the first timo with being drunk, was cautioned and dismissed. A second, who had been three times previously convicted, was fined 10s, with tho altcrnalivo of 48 hours imprisonment. John Houghton, who is under the usual recognisance to appear ns a witness m the trial of F. C. Bourdon, at tho noxt session :>f tho Supremo Court, appeared under inmmons, at the instance of the police, it )eing alleged that he was about to leave the :olony. Tho caso was adjourned till Friday. St. Paul's Cnritcn, Waimatb. — The Rev. Mr Morley on October 2'Jth addressed a meeting m the above church on tho subject of "The WesWim Church Loan Fund." There was only v small attendance. The Bey. C. Griffin presided. Mr Morloy explained the object aimed at by tho establishment of a church loan fund, viz., the provision for the erection of churches nnd pardonagos where needed and the payment of the debts al present hanging over several churches m the \\ csleyan connection.
