The barqua Mary Ann Annison took m a large quantity of wheat, oats, etc., yesterday. Tho schooner Mary King left Port Chalmers for Timaru yesterday. The schooner Young Dick is shortly expected from Hobart with a cargo of timber for her owner, Mr John Jackson. The Lighthouse Department, New York, are instituting a series «f experiments with tho object of ascertaining practically whother electricity can bo usefnlly employed for lighthouse illumination. ... , Early in tho morning of July 2bth a large steamor on the Volga, which was i carrying 680,0001b of naptha, was struck by hghtmng, and was at onco wrapped in flame.
