The ketch Good Templar finished discharging her timber yesterday. Tho Union Company's s.s. Waitaki arrived from Dunedin early yestorday, aftor a Ine passage. Aftor discharging and loading she left for the south about her usual time. Tho brig Fawn, H. Dillner master, arrived from Nowcastlo last evening, aftor a pretty smart passage. Sho left Newcastle on the Ist inst., with a northorly wind, which blew moderately until the fourth day out. Then it commenced to gain strength until tho 7th, when it had increased to a gale, accompanied with thick rainy weather and a very bail sea that did some damage to the bulwarks on each side. On the night of tho 7th the wind, which had been blowing hard from tho N.E., suddenly shifted to tho S.E., increasing shortly to a vory heavy gale, tho vessel completely burying herself between tho cross seas. At 6 a.m. on tho Sth tho vessel was hove-to nuder maintopsail, bnt at 4 p.m. tho wind shitted to the S.W., and the weather and sea moderated somewhat. West- Capo was passed tho following day, the wind at times light and bafHrnpr. Entered Foveanx Straits on tho 10th ; wind still light. After passing the Bluff at C p.m. got a strong wind from the sonth, which increased towards morning, with rain and hail. Passed Cape Sannder3 on the 11th at 6 p.m. ; had light S.W. wind through the night ; was becalmed off the Waitaugi river yesterday morning ; got a southerly breezo at noon, and arrived off the port at 6 p.m., anchoring m tho roadstead. Wo havo to thank Captain Dillner for tho report. The Fawn brings a load of Nowcastlo coal for Messrs R. Wilkin and Co., and will be berthed inside tho Breakwater early to-day. (By Telegraph.)
