The latest authentic information confirms the report that ha 3 been current of a aplit m the Cabinet. There is now no doubt but (that a rupture m the Ministry has occurred, and it ia understood that Ministers only await the meeting of the Chamber, which takes place on the 23rd instant, to announce the fact. It is stated that the Ministers consider they hare been treated with discourtesy and indignity by M. Gre"vy, and complain of the President's interference with the official action of his son-in-law, M. Wilson. M. Antoine, deputy for City Metz, has been arrested at the order of the Government, on a charge of treason. Madrid, Oct. 2. King Alfonso returned to this city to-day, and was welcomed with great enthusiasm by the populace. His Majesty received an ovation of unequalled magnificence, and was warmly cheered along the route to^tho palace. An open receptiou was held" by the King during the day at the palace. It was estimated that fully thirty thousand people took part m the proceedings on the occasion. London, Oct. 3. Sir Stafford Northcote, who is now visiting the North of Ireland, arrived yesterday at Belfast, where a fete was organised m his honor. Consols have declined j, and are noT quoted at 101 J. New Zealand securitiei remain at the following quotations :—{ per cent 10-40 loan 103$ ; 5 per oen 1889 loan, 105J j 4* per cent 1879-190* loan 101J ; 4 per| cent inscribed stock 101 J. The market rate of discount ha advanced to 3i ; the Bank rate is at 4 per cent. Adelaide wheat remains at 45s 6d c: store, and New Zealand do at 40s to 44s Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, 335. Australian tallow— Beat beef, 40s best mutton, 41s. The catalogue at to-day'a wool sale comprised 8000 bales. The market con tinues firm.
