WRESTLING CONTEST AT DTTNEDIN.

Tha wrestling match between George Robertson (the present champion m the Border style) and Joseph StroDg took place at the Caledonian Society's ground this afternoon. A Btake of £100 and the Caledonian Society 1 ! Championship Belt depended upon the iaiue. Strong stripped a little over 14 stone, whil«t Bobertson, the half-caste, nearly turned the scale at 17 stone. The first fall occupied a lot of time, »s the men were Terj cautious about getting a hold. The first time they looked, after an obstinate ttijsle, Strong wriggled out of his opponent's grip, and claimed a fall on the ground that the latter had broken bis hold. The Judges, however, disallowed it, and on closing again Bobertson got the b?Bt grip, and after a few moment* of intense excitement cross-buttocked his antagonist. After a long interval for rest the men again met, and onre more the superior strength of the half-caste proved too much for bis mor;> Bcient'fio opponent, who thus won the n>*t two falls nnd w»s declared the winnrr. A good deal of amusement was caused by Captain Jackson .Barry, who at the close of the match stripped and tried a fall with the gigantic champion, the latter literally lafc down after a fictitious utruggle, and Bllowed the gallant captnin the honor of victory.
