CORRESPONDENCE.
HEDGEHOGS. TO THE EDITOB OF THS TIMABU HKBALD. SIX, — As I am tho only person who ha§ imported hedgehogs to New Zealand, I wag interested m noticing your paragraph about one having been found Bt Pleasant Point, and that its preaenco there could not be accounted for. I received sir from England m December 1881, and turned them out into my garden, but they saon strayed away ; — at least they disappeared, and the remains of one, the only female, was all that wa could find of them. Although they stray much farther than one would suppose such a small animal was capable of doing, I think it is an impossibility tbat one could have travelled from Christchnrch to Pleasant Point, and therefore, if the one found there belongs to my lot, it must hare been taken by some one who had found it near my place. I am curious to know more about the matter, and I hear your correspondent at Pleasant Point may be able to furnish yon with some further information bearing on the subject. I am, &c., Bobbet Wiikijj. Chrlatchurcb, 24tli Sept., 1883. [Mr WilVin will probably have seen ore tlii3, from correspondence m our columns, tkatthe hedgehog found at Pleasant Point proved to be one belonging to Mr Stonyer, which had been brought oat as a pet. — Ed. T.H.']
