ANNIVERSARY SERVICES.

The anniversary ten meeting m connection with the Timaru Weeleyan Sunday School was held m th? schoolroom, Bank street, last evening, tea being placed on the tables at half-past six o'clock. The tables were presided over by the following ladies : — Mesdames Gilcbrist, Turguse, Mair, and Coe.junr.; and Misses Musker, Clarke (2), Whittaker (2), and Burnby. Theio ladies and a small army of male attendants were kept particularly busy for more than an hour attending to tbosa who sat down to the tea. After full justice hid been done to the excellent things proTided, an adjournment was made to the Church adjoining, when, after an opening prayer by the Rev. Mr Wills, the Superintendent of the Bunday-school (Mr Holdgate) gate *> brief resume of the pust year's work m the Sunday school, after which he called on Mr William Coe, the Honorary Secretary, to read the annual report. The report showed that the number of children on the roll at present was 259, a slight falling off compared with last year, for which the figures were 280. The average attendance this year was, however, better than last, the figures beiDg 168 and 161 respectively. Some changes had taken place among the teachers durisg the year, and the lois the school sustained through the departure of Miss Dick was specially referred t>. Mr Carl Vogeler, the Honorary Treasurer, next presented the annual financial report. Be was sorry the balance to credit this year was not so much a^ last, but still m most respects the report was very satisfactory. The receipts for the yenr, including o balance brought forward of £12 Os 7d, amounted to £74 6s 2d. The expenditure had been £63 6s 4d, a balance being thus left of £10 19---lOd, There wero still a few small accounts to settle, however, which would reduce the amount to be carried forward to next yew's account to about £7 12s 7d. The reports were received with applause. After the choir had sung a hymn, the Rev. P. Wills of Temuka delivered a lecture on " Nineveh and the Bible." The rev. gentleman has a very taking style of delivery, and had chosen an excellent subject, the audience listening with much attention throughout, and at the clobb ha was greatly applauded. The singing of a hymn, and pronouncing tba Benediction by the Rev. Mr Wills brought the meeting to a close, everyone going home well satiified with the Wesleyan Sunday School Anniversary of 1883.
