Stores and magazines, £3785. Miscellaneous, £7148. Passed. Class 11— Working Railways, £64,400 Item— General Manager, £1000. Mr Turnbull moved that it be reduced by £200.

The Hon. Mr Johnnton ftated that Mr Maxwell wns a most valuable officer. In three years he had effected bo great reforms m the working of tho railways that they now earned £20,000 n year, while concessions representing another £1000 a year had beon made to the public.

Messrs J. MoKonzie, Peter Duncan, Sutton and others complained groatly of the railway mismanagement.

The amendment was negatived on the voices and tho totnl votes were passed.
