Tho following is tho conclusion of Friday night's sitting m Committee of Supply : —
After Mr Bryce's statement, Mr Hutchison withdrow his amendment, and tho vote passed.
Stores and magazines, £3785. Miscellaneous, £7148. Passed. Class 11— Working Railways, £64,400 Item— General Manager, £1000. Mr Turnbull moved that it be reduced by £200.
The Hon. Mr Johnnton ftated that Mr Maxwell wns a most valuable officer. In three years he had effected bo great reforms m the working of tho railways that they now earned £20,000 n year, while concessions representing another £1000 a year had beon made to the public.
Messrs J. MoKonzie, Peter Duncan, Sutton and others complained groatly of the railway mismanagement.
Mr White supported the vote as printed,
The amendment was negatived on the voices and tho totnl votes were passed.
Architect's Office, £1660) Government Domains, £1221 ; Publio Buildings, £30,630 , Miscellaneous, £4925. Passed.
Progress was then reported, and the Houfo rose at 3.25 a.m.
