It is understood that Mr Dargaville has handed m a list of witnesses to be examined before what is called the " Dargavilte Indictment Committee," and some of these witnesses cannot be got together except by the expenditure of much time and money. The Government intend to hurry on the report of the Commission, against whioh Mr Dargaville will protest, and he will, during the recess, stump the country, speaking against the Ministry m every way. lam m a position to state that there is at any rate some truth m this report, but I am promised further detail* from a reliable source tomorrow, which I will telegraph. The Commission is to meet to-morrow to elect its Chairman.

Mr Turnbull to-night endeavored ioeffectaally to cut down some of the North Island railway estimates, particularly that of the Inspecting Engineer. The Joint Commission on education is having a lively time of it. There are 30 members m it, and they spend a deal of their lime disputing points of order. ,
