Messrs Maclean and Stewart report for the past week as follows : — Horses — An average number o£ draught and light horses camo forward to their Yards today for salo, 45 head having passed under tho hammer. The quality of tho entries, with a few exceptions, was not snch as to induce much competition for tho different lots, and prices ruling were in consoqnonoo not high. On account of Mr Alex. Humphrey, Seadown, thoy disposed of a very fair team of 4 mares at an avorago of L2B per head ; on account of another owner 2 medium geldings, at from LlB to L22. Another extra heavy gelding brought L39 and a number of others at about the above quotations. Hacks are very dull of salo, unloss extra good, ordinary sorts being quitted at from LS to Ll2. Good hacks are scarce. Sheep — Tho demand for store sheep has slightly improved during tho last week, and though few transactions have been inado, thoy anticipate an improvement in prices as tho season advances. Fat sheep are keeping up In price, last Monday's salo at the Washdyko showing a considerable improvement. A number of sheep of good qnality was entered there for sale, and prices may lie quoted at abont 2Jd per lb. They sold 130 heavy weight crossbreds at 16s ; 250 do, at 15s ; 250 do, at 14s Od. At Winchester but few entries were received. They sold a small lino of medium woights, abont 100, at 135 lOd. Cattle— Thoro is littlo doing in store cattlo, food being scarco no one is inclined to purchase, even at tho present low rates. Fat cattlo aro in rather hotter demand, and prices have advanced during the week from 22s tidto 25s per 1001b. Primo qnality may be quoted at about prosent values. Messrs R. Turnbn.il and Son report as follows : — Thoy havo to noto no alteration in prices of farm and dairy produco, last quoted, and sales continue dull and slow even at present ruling low price3. Their salo of clothing at tho Point snffered on account of tho bad weather, bnt a fair amount of businoss was dono. Tho salo of unredeemed pledges on Saturday last, as usual, drew a crowd, and "was tolorably succo33ful. On Wednesday thoy had a very largo attendance at their salo of furniture, and all lots snbmitted realised prices quito up to owners' expoetation3. To-day there was again a largo number of bnyers at their salo of produco aud miscellaneous goods, and all lots put up sold at market values. It is to be noted that whilo all articles necessary to ordinary housekeepers fetch full rates, tho moro costly entries that amongst many people aro deemed (in tho present times) luxurie3, suffer a heavy discount on values. Messrs William Collins and Co. report a good doinand for all classes of produco and general merchandise at their regular weekly market and auction to-day. Tho ontries of produce were enough for local requirements without glntting tho markot, consequently sailors have no cause to complain of tho figures obtained throughout the day : — Dry Derwent potatoes, 45s to 50s per ton ; inferior lots, 3G3 por ton ; fowl wheat, 3s 6d to 83 per sack ; oats, Is kl to Is Gd per bushol ; buttor, Is 3d per lb (bad lots aro qnito unsaleable) ; eggs, Is 3d to Is Gd per doz ; bacon pigs, 3d to 4Jd per lb according to quality; fowls, aged, 2s per pair ; young roosters, 4s por pair ; ducks, 3s 6d to -Is per pair -, geese, Gs to 7s per pair; tnrkoys, hens, 3s to 4s ; gobblers, 5s to 7h each ; seed potatoes, 83 to 103 per sack (in all cases sacks aro givon in) ; box teas, 12s to 14s. Housohold furniture, boots, drapery and , a general assortment of sundries were also , quitted at prices which cannot fail to givo satisfaction to tho owners.
