The latest accounts from Ischia report that fully 5000 persona lost their lives at Oassanuciola and in tho neighborhood. Efforts are being made to extricate the bodies of those who perished from the ruins and inter them, but the air is now poisoned with pestilential effluvia, and all that can now be done is to cover the corpses with quick lime, and allow them to remain. Mount Vesuvius, which has shown signs of activity since the late earthquake at lachia, is now in eruption. Capetown, July 31. Some further details have been obtained regarding the murder of James Carey at Port Elizabeth. It is now known that he was shot by O'Donnell iu the presence of his family. It is, however, uncertain whether he was tracked from Ireland. London, Aug. 1. Great rejoicings took place at Carey's death, and bonfires were lighted at various places last night.
