AUCTIONEERS' REPORT.

Messrs Bobt. WUkin and Co. report for the week ended to-day, Friday, 13th July 1883, a3 follows :— J ' Horses— The demand has improved, and prices are a little better than they have been for some time past. Thero are enquiries for good draughts, both for local requirements and shipment to New South Wales. They had a fair entry of various classes on Saturday ■ 7th instant, m addition to a quantity of i harness, drays, &0., &c. They gold good ' draughts up to .£29 ; useful sorts from £11 i 10s up to £20 ; light and inferior, £Q 10s to £8. ,

Cattle— Tho looal demand for prime beef is fairly good, with tho demand only limited. During tho week they have sold privately several small lots at very satisfactory prices. They qnote primo quality at 22s 6d ; medium, about 20s por lOOlbs. Stores — Nothing of any importanco has taken place. Privately, through tuo week, they have sold 22 head of steera at market rates. Quiet springing heifers aro m fair demand. Two and three-yoar-old steers aro enquired for, whilst yearlings |and old cows aro not saleablo at any price. Sheep — Fat, the market is fairly woll supplied, and no improvement on last week's prices, viz., 2^d per lb, can be quoted, although they havo onquiries for primo fat croas-breds. Privately thoy have sold through tho week 50 croas-brod3 at 1-ls : 250 do, do, at 13s (id ; (550 morino ewes at Gs 6d. In stores thoy have no transactions of any noto to report. There are enquiries for cross-bred wethers, of which they havo several largo lines under offer. Skins — At their usual fortnightly salo, hold at their rooms on Wednesday last, they catalogued over 1000. Competition was not so keen a3 thoy have seen for the last few sales. The trade rosolvcd upon being careful m bnying, the usual attendance of follmongors and scourers boing present. They succeodod m effecting a clearanco of overy lino at the following prices— Best butchors' cross-bred, 3s 6d, 3a 9d up to 43 ; second quality, 2s 9d to 3s 4d ; best merinos up to 4s ; second quality, 2s 6d to 3s Gd; dry and inferior lots, Is 6d, lslOd, np to2s2d. Country salo— On Monday, tho 9th inst., they conducted a sale of surplus stock on account of Mr G. A. Morris, at his farm m tho Otaio district. Considering tho locality and tho small attendance, overy lot sold mot with good competition, and tho prices obtained were very satisfactory. A lino of cross-bred owes brought 10s ; I<JO do, do, 10s 3d ; 263 crossbred hoggets, 8s ; two-year steers, •£■! 5s ; two-year-old heifers, .£2 to £2 10s ; old cows, £2 15s ; yearlings, 255. The demand for horses being poor, they woro all passed m with tho exception of one more which brought .£3O. Furnitnre, &c. — On Thursday thoy hold a salo of household effects, on account of Mr H. W. Hammond. Tho attendance was large, and resulted fairly satisfactorily, biddings for somo of tho things boing brisk, and fair prices were obtained.
