Tho total reserve m the Bank of Eng land m notes and bullion is £11,600,000, an increase of £30,000 compared with th< reserve last week. The proportion o reserve to liabilities has advanced to 4! percent. The Bank rate of discount re mains at 4 per cent, and tho market rat at ii§ per cent. Consols have further declined J, am are now quoted at 995. New Zealani securities remain as follows : — 5 por cen 10 40 loan, 100A ; 6 per cent 1889 loau 104 h ; 4* per cent 1879-1904 loan, 102 4 po"r cent inscribed stock, 101, ex div. The market for Australian breadstuff and tallow is unchanged. Australia] hides are now realising full prices.
