'(Pzk Psbss Association.) At/CKIAWD, July 13. The> Harbor Board* allotment for freezing purposes was put up to auction to-day for 60 yean leaia. It was knocked down to the Staring and Storage Company without oppolitiou at £1 per annum for the first 21 yean, and 30» per annum for the balance of the lease, £5000 to be deposited with the Harbor Board at security that £15,000 will be expended on freezing works within the next five years. The members of the Kai-Iwi troop of cavalry, m Alexandra, bare signed an address of sympathy to the Hon. J. Bryce, m respect to the Bnsden libel upon hit character. Chbibtchtoch, July 13. The Plompton ground is now ready for the Waterloo meeting. It contains ISO hares. A trial made to-day proved very satisfactory. By the voter of nominators for the Waterloo Cap, Mr 0.8. Wise has been elected Judge, and Mr J. Spooner »tipp«r. ' - During the past year 84,231 persons hare visited the Muieutn— s3,3Bs on week days, and 30,846 on Sundays. The sittings of the Methodist Union Committee were continued today, under the presidency of the Bots Mr Button and Mr Beid respectively. The powers of Church CoarteV were considered, and considerable progrew made In forming the ban's of union for submission to the respective churches. Unanimity was practically arrived at on all important questions. In the evening at & public meeting held m the Durham street Church, the Bey W. Morley presided, and addresses of welcome were delivered by Beys E. Best and W. Tineley. The following were speakers on various phates of Methodist Union :— > Beys W.DuttoD, B. Bavin, I. White, and J. Wilson. DrNEDllf, July 13. Charles Baker, a busbman at lake Wanakp, committed suicide to-day by shooting himself m the head. The religious instruction classes started by the local clergy are fairly attended. The Anglican ministers leach npon their own account. Tbe olasses are held m the morning. Mr B. Wilson, chairman of the recent meeting of consignees who lost goods by the fire at the railway goods shed, received today the following telegram from the Minister of Works :— " Schedule of claims arising out of Dunedin fire, with report thereon, will arrive by next mail from South, and will be considered without delay. The Borough Council of Invercargill bove had under consideration the sanitary condition of the town, and enquiries have induced the Council to contract for the removal ol sight-toil once each month from ever; rateable property m the Borough, tbe work to be done without charge (o the occupier of the property, the cost beirg defrayed ont of the ordinary muricipsl revenue. is for a period of three years, »nd the cost about £500 per annum.
