(Pbess Association Telboram ) Auckland, March 28. Rocket, Don, King Quail, and Sir George are received as additional entries for both tha Easter Handicap and tho Autumn Handicap at the Auckland Autumn Meeting. At the Panmure races there was a scandalous swindlo m the Panmure Handicap, of 25 sots. Before tho race ever came off, rumors thnt "dark riding" would boattempted m tho case of. the Golden Crown were freely circulated, ond considerable interest was therefore taken m it. A fairly good start waseffected, and Magician quickly took the lead, followed by Fior.i, Goldm Crown being last. At tho back of the coimo Golden Crown being let out assumed first place, but immediately atterwards he collided with a post, which was inooked down by his shoulder. Matsician nnd Flora went ahead, end it appeared to tho spectator* that Crown was being pnlled. At the corner on the last round, Migician woull not turn, and ran some distanco off tho cuur6o followed b.\ Flora. Golden Crown continued oloue but aher proceeding nearly 100 yards he wai pulled up into a wnlk until Migician had passed him. He then started off again, and the crowd expressed their disapprobation by hooting and hissing. Magician led during the remainder of the distanco and woo with about two lengths to spare. The conclusion of the race was the signal for (he commencement of a most exciting but disgraceful scene. The public closed round the horse and j it was feared that his jockey, Byers, a eon of the owner, would have been roughly handled. This was, however, prevented by Sergeant Clark. Charges of " roguery " and " swindling " were shouted out, and violenco to thos-j concerned m tho pulling of the horso was anticipated. They, however, succeeded m leaving the course, tho infuriated crowd following them some distauce. Some of our southern friends are believod to have b-en concerned m " utiffening " the horse. The matter was brought beforo tho Stewards, when it wa> decided that Magician should take first money, Flora second, and Golden Crown be disqualified out of the race on account of dark riding. In the opinion of the Stewards also all bets on tho event wero declared off. The matter is likely to be brought before the Auckhnd Racing Club.
