Mr Riccardi, Mr Harding and Miss Leaf were passengers by the Rotomahana for Melbourne, under engagement as members of Mr Williamson's Company. They are announced to appear m H. M.S. At the inquest on the body of William Fergusaon, found dead last night, Mr Stockwell deposed that there were no marks of violence. He believed the wheel of the cart had passed over him. Tho vordict was that deceased was found dead, and that his death was caused by injuries described m the medical evidenco, but how he came by it there was no evidenco to show.

The funeral of ' tho late Mr J. S. Macfarlane took placo to-day at St. Andrew's Church. There were 60 carriages and a number of mourners on horseback. The churoh could not hold those present when tho service was being conducted by the Yen. Archdeacon Stone. The mourners were the Hon. F. Whitaker, tho Hon. James Williamson, Dr Pollod, Mr John Sheehan, and Mr William Swanson. There were many old colonists present. At a meeting of tho Auckland Presbytery, the Rev. Mr Mcßae was elected Moderator. .

Mr Soymour George, m addressing tho Rodney electors, explained tho circumstances which resulted m tho defeat of tho Groy Government. When tho diesolution took place they had been beaten by fifteen votes, aud an appeal mado to the people. When tho the new Parliament assembled, if every member had kept thoir pledges, Sir Georgo Grey would have had a majority of the Houso. Ho spoke for a considerable time, and at the conclusion roceived a voto of thanks; '
