AN ACKNOWLEDGMENT.
TO THE EDITOR OB THS TIMABTT HERALD. Sib, — I again beg to thank those who generously responded to the appeal I made through your columns some months ago on behalf of Richard Chafe. I am now happy to inform you that he is travelling the district with a horse and cart, dealing m eggs, butter, and other produce. His horse lias been Bold him on most easy terms of payment, by Mr. John Scunuell, of Kingtowu. Mr. Brewer, of Temuka, kindly supplied a set of harnes at a reduced rate. Tho trap was built by Mr. Buss, conchbuilder, Temuka, and is a very creditable piece of workmanship. After paying expenses of cart and harneßs, there was a sum of £8 4s remaining, which I Imnded over to tho lad as capital to start with ; and I have reason to believe that be has made a good use of it, and is now m tho way of earning an honest livelihood. Hoping the public will grant him a share of their patronage, and with thanks to you, sir, for the insertion of my letters, I am, &c, John S. Hates. Temuka, Jan. 13th, 1879.
