ROAD BOARD ANNUAL ELECTIONS.

GERALDINE. The polling for the election of three members to serve on the Gerulcliue Roaa Hoard took place yesterday. A good deal of interest was manifested m the election during the day. The following is the result of the election .— W. Poßilethwaite 147 J. Hay 140 W. Deßenzy 107 J. P. Wihon 39 Messrs Postlethwaite, Hay aud Deßenzy were declared duly elected. TEMUKA. The nominations for the election of three members to serve on the ibove Road Board took place yesterday, when Messrs Hayhurst, Ensor, and Quinn, the retiring members, being the only gentlemen proposed, were declared duly elected. MOUNT PEEL. The annual meeting of the ratepayers of the above district was held m the R'rnd Bo:ird office, Peel Forest, on Friday, the 3rd inst. Mr C. G. Tripp acted as Returning Officer. The minutes of the last meeting of ratepayers having been rend and confirmed, the Returning Officer read the advertisement calling the meeting, and stated the object for which it. waß called, viz. — to elect three qualified persons to serve on the Board m the room of the retiring members — Messrs E. Cooper, C. G. Tripp, and J. Heney. After reviewing at some length the proceedings of the Board for the past year, the Returning Officer called upon some of the ratepayers present to nominate candidates, when Eight gentlemen were proposed and seconded, and a show of hands was then taken for the several candidates, which resulted m a large majority m favof of the Hon. J. B. A. Acland, Messrs J. Heney and C. G. Tripp. No poll being demanded on behalf of any of the other candidates, the above gentlemen were declared duly elected. A statement of accounts, showing the receipts aud expenditure for the past year, was read. The attention of the meeting was called to the Btate of the cross road m Peel Forest, when, after some discussion, it was resolved to request the Board to have it metalled bef ire winter. After tho ratepayers present had expressed their npnroval of the proceedings of the Board during the p>ist ye«r, the meeting terminated.
