[By Telegbaph.] Auckland, Jan. 7. The <"itv of New York brings the following items of New Calidonia news : — AtKere, the fires of hostile natives were seen m a valley some miles distant and the friendly chief Catteliar went out with 200 men. " They sunounded a group if 15 , men engaged m rousting n bullock. The frii-ndlies slaughtered the 15 enemies, put the run at bullock aside, replaced it with tlie 15 rieii'l bndiea, which were cooked and raten, after which the wnrriors returued with Hpoeased appetites. Numbers of the enemy were killed at the recent enaagenj'nta, »nd 28 women and children taken prisoners. Naounan, chief of the Manifo triba offered to surrender with 150 men if their live 3 were spared.
