Messrs Maclean ami Stewart- report as follows : — Draught Horses. — The demand during the past month lias not been good, but there is a , prospect of a slight improvement now that harvest is approaching. Quotations are for , first-rlu.-i.s, £52 to £07 ; medium, £2H to £10. Hackneys — As per last quotations, with a demand for really good weight carriers and ' harness horses. Fat Cattle. — They have sold during the ' week 18 head of steers and heifers at til 10s per head, or equal to 3os per lOOlbs. Store Cattle. — No transactions. They call i attention to the sale of a prime lot of 200 at Temuka ou the ltth inst. • Fat Sheep — Have sold privately, GOO crossbred ewes and weathers at from 9s to 10s Bd. ' Store Sheep, — They have no transactions of 5 any moment to report, but sales of several ■ lots are now pending, with enquiries for young 1 crosa-breds and merinos of both soxes. ; Wool. — They have disposed of several small lots of cross-breds at 7iil to 7sd ; pieces at 1 3d. A considerable number of bales are now - catalogued for their next sale on the 16th ; inst. 1 They have Bold privately the lease of Mr ; James Macdonald's Milkwalk (late Pringle's) - with stock and plant, at a satisfactory price to ; Mr F. J. Slater. 1 Messrs Jonas, Hart and Wildio report : having held their regular sale of wool, sheep--1 skins, &c, on Thursday last, the 2nd inst. ' The sale was well-attended with tho usual ; trade buyers, but the bidding was very 1 languid, and the prices obtained being a 2 slight decrease upon our last cjuutations. In 1 all there were catalogued 59 bales cross-bred 1 wool, 11 bales merino, '100 full-woolled crossbred skins, 300 pelts and 150 lambskins. The rates obtained were 73d for cross-bred wool ; 1 7s d to 8d for merino j 4s 3d to 5s for cross--7 bred skins ;3dto 4d for pelts, and Is 3d to Is lOd for lambskins, j Messrs Palmer and Collins report holding their regular weekly sale of farm and dairy produce, furniture and general merchandise J on Saturday last. The attendance was good, '• and buyers in abundance at satisfactory rates, as the following will show : — Potatoes, 3d per i lb., there being only a few sacks to offer ; 50 f bags prime feed oats for export (f.0.b.), p 4s 2d per bushel ; hams and bacon, 6d to 7id t per lb. ; fowls, 3s 6d to 4s 9d ; pair ducks, 7s ; - geese and turkeys, none offering j lamb, 2s to 3s side.
