Melbourne, Jan. 3.
The anti-Chinese strike has been settled at last through Mr Lockhead. The terms of the arrangement which has been agreed to by the directors of the A.S.N. Company on the one hand, and the malcontent seamen on the other, are as follows :— (l.^ All men are to return as far as possible to their former positions m the s-ervice of the Company. (2.) The Company are to retain the services of 180 Chinese, which number is t(i be reduo-d to 120 within the period of three months from the Ist January, 1879. (3.) All wages due on the 18th November to the men who were on strike are to be paid m full by the Company. (4.) Ship's discharges m the customary form are to be given m all cases where it may be found necessary. An agreement embodying these terms has been formally signed by the representatives on both sides, and the men will return to their work immediately.
