WAIMOTU HERD OF SHORTHORNS. This herd sprung from cows purchased at Awamoa, 1875-76. The Hon. M. Holmes Belected the original herd at a sale held by Messrs Morion Brothers and Leach, of Mount Derrimuc, Victoria, sth November, 1867. Tho selections of the Hon. M. Holmes at the above sale comprised tho very best animals ofthe Jessamine, April Flower, and Farewi-11 tribes ; omon» them was the celebrated Cow Jessamine 9th, that took no less than Seven First Prizes m Victoria. Her own sister Jepsamino 13th, is dam of Mr Craig's famous red Cow, Otago Jessamine 2nd. It would take too much space to mention prizes awarded to the Wuimotu Herd at various showa : suffice it to aay that the Shorthorn Cup haa been won t.wo yeara m succession by Mr Craig. The bulla used m the herd were Prince Killerby (imported by the Hon. M. Holmes), Prince of the Butterflies (by G. M. Bell, Esq., Waimea), and Waimotu Prince (out of Otago Jessamine 2nd by Prince Killerby). THE SHORTHORNS VTILL BE SOLD ON THURSDAY, APRIL 18, 1878. WAIMOTU HERD OF AYRSHIRES. The Ayrshire Herd started from the imported Cow Tibbie. This waa one of the best-bred cows m New Zealand ; her progeny have all been prize-takers. The Cow Fascination (out of Flirt) is allowed to be one of the very best m theae Colonies ; no purer blood can be had. Her Sire, Vulcan, got more prize animals than any aire ever bred m, or imported to, New Zealand. Neil, the sire of the young stock, is out of old Violet. This grand old cow has taken over Forty Prizes, and when shown m proper trim, has never been beaten. Violet is reckoned the Champion of New Zealand. Mr Craig took the A/rshire Cup at Oamaru Show, 1875. THE AYRSHIRES WILL BE SOLD ON (HURSDAY, APRIL 18, 1878. WAIMOTU DRAUGHT STOOK. The draught stock ot Mr Craig has been long and favorably knnwn m the Oamaru diatrict. The Brood Mares are a particularly nice lot, asd the pedigrees of the various animals bear testimony of their breeding. Breeders desirous to obtain well-bred mares should not mis< this sale, as it is seldom auch un opportunity occurs of acquiring the beat ] animula m a stud.
